Winter is well and truly here and we’ve found our new favourite way to enjoy our Naked Collagen this season: stirred through the poshest of porridges with creamy, slow-cooked organic oats, and generous helpings of decadent, yet nutritious homemade toppings.
Who better to teach us about all things porridge, than the lovely Caroline from Posh Porridge NZ. We were so excited to have her at Jeuneora HQ last week for the most delicious team breakfast.
It was also the perfect opportunity for a cosy hygge-inspired photoshoot and a great opportunity to support another local business too! We love that (just like us) they’re afemale-founded company right here in Christchurch, New Zealand. We’ve loved following along on their journey and seeing this awesome business grow and grow.
The Posh Porridge Story
Founded in 2010, Posh Porridge serves grain-based breakfast bowls centred around the best of local, seasonal produce.
The posh porridge ladies believe porridge is at its best when topped with simple, lovingly-crafted ingredients. Not only are these bowls of porridge crowned with tasty toppings, Posh Porridge sources berries and oats from Ashburton, oat milk from Otago, stone fruit from the South Island’s fertile valleys and pretty much everything else from the farmers market where they got their start.
They’ve grown from a small stall at the Christchurch Farmers’ Market to a porridge destination, with a loyal following in Christchurch and beyond.
In September 2019 they opened a small cafe and takeaway shop at their Montreal Street kitchen. Even though they’ve expanded, this breakfast beacon never tries to do too much. The menu’s heart and soul is still porridge but sensible companions like Supreme filter coffee, sweet and savoury toasts and bircher bowls (in summer) take things to the next level. As always, everything is made by hand and from scratch.
The team offer catering for corporate and workplace breakfasts, private brunches, post-wedding or birthday feasts and other celebrations! What a treat! And for those who simply can’t get enough of this delightful breakfast spot, jars of Posh Porridge’s crumbles and granolas are available for purchase on-site.
Posh Porridge Toppings at home!
If you live out of town and you can’t try the delicious Posh Porridge for yourself (get yourself to Christchurch - you’re missing out!) try making your own collagen-loaded posh porridge with these tasty ideas
1. Make your porridge as you usually would. Posh Porridge use lovingly slow-cooked organic oats, but we won’t judge you if you zap yours in the microwave!
2. Stir through a serving of Jeuneora Naked Collagen (Unflavoured and odourless Type I Premium Marine Collagen)
3. Pick your toppings (see delicious ideas below)
4. Finish with cream, yoghurt or milk of your choice
- Boysenberry chia compote, or a good quality boysenberry jam
- Sliced Banana
- Your choice of granola or muesli
- Sliced almonds
- Pure maple syrup
Spiced Apple Crumble:
- Stewed and spiced apples, or use good quality, chunky apple sauce
- Almond and oat granola
- Caramel sauce
- Sprinkle of cinnamon.
